It's 6:00am. I've been up for an hour. Waiting to meet coach Cailla for a swim down at Okanagan beach. I've been trying to wake up at around 5 am all week to get the body ready for Sunday. I'm excited for today because after my swim, I'm going to check in and get my athlete bracelet and swag. Once that bracelet is on, it's really time to get focused. The race is on my mind a little more now. I'm not worried or nervous. Just thinking about some of the little things that I need to get ready before Sunday. But before that, I want to take in as many of the race week activities as I can. We did the parade and BBQ last night. I did every parade at the three IMC I did here so why change? This evening I'm doing a 1km fun run with at least two of my boys. It's $5 to register and the money goes to charity. Totally worth it! Tomorrow morning is the underpants run. It's a fun run started by Paul Huddle and Roch Frey (Canadian!) as a fun poke at European triathletes wearing their Speedos around Kona during race week. It has spread to other Ironman and iron distance events. I've already run in my underwear once this year (The Underwear Affair in Edmonton). It's rather liberating and since the $5 registration fee is for charity, good for the soul. Other than that, there are a few workouts to do to keep the legs ready and time to spend at the beach with the family. TTFN!
